On 10th and 11th October, German and Spanish Porta Mondial master franchise partners, representatives from Porta Holiday and Porta Mallorquina Real Estate Consultants met in Majorca for an internal continuing education event.

Against a backdrop of glorious weather and temperatures that nearly reached summer levels, Porta Mondial AG CEO Joachim Semrau welcomed the around 50 participants to the Carrossa Seminar and Event Hotel, close to Artà.

Exciting presentations

Stephan Bruns, Franchise Manager D-A-CH, kicked off the series of presentations, informing attendees about cross-selling potential within the Porta Mondial network.

He explored the subject of joint business within a metropolitan region (e.g. Greater Düsseldorf), as well as the great potential offered by Spanish holiday real estate to German real estate agents:

“With our holiday properties you set yourself apart from the competition, increase the attractiveness of your website and/or estate agency, and also generate attractive additional commission in the event of successful mediation,”

said Stephan Bruns, explaining the network’s advantages to his captivated audience.

The next speakers were Petra Zimmermann (Manager Franchise Relations Porta Mondial AG) and Eva Chmielarz (Marketing Porta Mallorquina), who talked about successful online marketing, using the example of Porta Mallorquina. Alongside handy tips for optimum property brochure presentation, the participants also learnt a great deal about the best content for a real estate website in order to earn top rankings in search engines.

The secret of successful real estate agents

Dr. Michael Franz and his team interviewed 100 top real estate agents from all over the world, and analysed the success factors. In his instructive and entertaining presentation, Dr. Franz presented the most important points in which a highly successful real estate agent differs from a less successful one. On the basis of neuromarketing, he gave a well-paced and memorable explanation of the best sales strategies for real estate agents.

Exclusive luxury fincas in Carrossa

Porta Mondial AG didn’t choose the enchanting venue in northeast Majorca purely for its beauty. Apart from the exclusive seminar and event hotel, the grounds of the Carrossa estate – big enough to hold over 700 football pitches – also contain eight newly-built luxury fincas that are being sold exclusively by Porta Mallorquina. Owner Heinz Hamacher gave the real estate agents a tour of the properties, explaining the special features of the individual fincas which have been fitted out with painstaking attention to detail.

Relaxed networking

During the group dinner, participants had the opportunity to get to know each other, and share experiences across the different regions.

The second round of presentations started the next morning. Markus Schreurs, co-founder of Porta Mondial AG, and now the successful franchise partner operating Porta Mondial Krefeld and Porta Mondial Mönchengladbach, provided an informative and entertaining insight into how he has managed to become a leading real estate agent in his region.

New business area: Porta Holiday

Bringing the presentations to a close, Joachim Semrau and Robin von Kathen introduced Porta Holiday. This Porta Mallorquina subsidiary specialises in holiday lettings in Majorca, and is the perfect complement to the classic business of real estate sales. The two were able to draw a positive balance, now that the company has been operating in Majorca for some 10 months.

As expected, the new service has been warmly welcomed by vendors (bridging the marketing period by means of holiday lettings) and buyers (all-in service with purchase and holiday lettings from a single source). At the moment, there are over 180 holiday properties on the Porta Holiday website, a figure that is expected to rise to around 200 by the end of the year.

Sharing a paella

The partner meeting ended with everybody pitching in to cook a paella, which they then enjoyed al fresco. In the afternoon participants took their leave, with everyone agreeing that this was an event that must be repeated soon.

This is what the participants said:

“These kinds of events are very important. Even if you already know a lot, you can always pick up new and valuable ideas and momentum.”
(Natascha Sandig, Porta Ibiza)

“Exciting presentations that deliver good suggestions for our own business. We were very motivated by this event.”
(Martina Hintz, Porta Mondial Hamburg)

“It was very positive for us, the franchise partners, that our Real Estate Consultants were able to attend as well. That way they found out about new things first-hand, and were able to actively contribute to the individual topics.”
(Barbara de Matos, franchise partner Majorca South)

“First-class speakers ensured first-class motivation and an excellent mood amongst the participants.”
(Jens-Olaf Hoffmann, Porta Mondial Düsseldorf)

“Cross-regional meetings like these generate valuable synergies. In the Pollensa region, in particular, we have a relatively young team, so this meeting was the ideal opportunity for new staff to get to know so many colleagues in one go.”
(Stephan Hoffmann, Porta Mallorquina North)

“Porta Mallorquina events and meetings are very important. Or, as the French say: “Well begun is half done. Everybody can learn something from the presentations, or brush up on the most important applications and workflows. The Porta Mondial team gets together to share its experiences, we see each other again, and we get to know new employees. This time around, the food was very good and the accommodation was superb.”
(Natalie de la Piedra, Porta Mallorquina Santa Ponsa)

The Porta Mondial partner meeting 2014 was a huge success all-round, thanks to the expert speakers, the highly motivated team and, not least, the magical atmosphere in Carrossa.
